Turbo
Yeast for high alcohol moonshine fermentation (for a reflux still):
Alcotec 8 - the 20%
alcohol super yeast
|

Turbo
Yeast: Alcotec
8 is the most extreme super yeast you can find when it comes to high
alcohol production (making moonshine using a reflux still).
Alcotec 8 got its name from the fact
that it will ferment 8 kgs of sugar in a 25 litre solution. Alcotec 8 is
a high alcohol Turbo Yeast producing 20% alcohol by volume in only 5
days - another “impossible” achievement from Alcotec.
Temperature range is 12-24 C (54-75
F). The optimum temperature is just under 24 C (75 F), at lower
temperatures fermentation will take more than 5 days and at higher
temperatures, fermentation will stick and the result will be less
alcohol. |
|
If you want to make 20%
moonshine alcohol in higher temperatures, use Alcotec 48 instead. It
will work fine but it will take more than 5 days. |

You
may need to adapt the instruction for this turbo yeast depending on the
legislation in your country and in some countries making wash or making
moonshine using a reflux still (or other, like a pot still) can be
completely illegal. Always check your legal position before using our
products.
For
flavoring of your spirit we recommend using Vinland essences,
a small but very high quality range. |

Alcotec 8 (ferments 8 kgs of sugar in
25 litres) is the best example. It is very difficult to make a high
alcohol super yeast but Alcotec 8 was the first major breakthrough in
the world. In only 5 days, it will produce nearly 20% of alcohol from 8
kgs of sugar in 25 litres total volume.
The drawback with a high alcohol turbo
is that it is more temperature sensitive than the "low
alcohol" type. You MUST keep the liquid temperature below 24-25 C
at all times or your fermentation will stick too high.
The amazing Alcotec
48 is the next generation of high alcohol Turbo's. It is a
"dual" turbo, you can choose if you want to ferment 14%
alcohol in 2 days or 20% in 5 days and it is also much more temperature
tolerant than the Alcotec 8. This turbo was launched in 2003. |
